Firm Overview

Whether your case involves divorce, child support or child custody, I handle it with intelligence, skill and compassion.

A one-attorney firm

Stated very simply, I am this firm. My practice is family law. That is all I do.  I work only in Tarrant County.

Why I practice family law

I am in this business to help people through difficult times. If you are reading this material, you are probably considering a divorce, a custody change or some other life-changing event. First, let me say that I am sorry you are going through this. It is not easy. I try to make the legal aspects of divorces and custody matters go smoothly for my clients.

BuildingClients Matter

My goal is to serve my clients with personal attention and good strong representation. I return calls. Promptly. I pay attention to details. I treat my clients with respect. I let my clients know what is going on with their cases by sending them copies of all correspondence and pleadings and by staying in touch by phone.  Working directly with clients is the most rewarding aspect of my practice.  I work well with both men and women clients. I think my clients would tell you that I am easy to talk with, friendly and sometimes even funny.

Business sense

I do my best to help clients keep their rightful part of their assets. I try to find assets for them that they may not have known they had or may not have realized that they had a right to. My experience in formerly practicing corporate, business and securities law helps me identify and intelligently evaluate assets such as closely held corporations, corporate stock and partnerships.

Respect

Showing respect to clients, judges and attorneys is my approach. I am able to be an assertive and zealous advocate for my clients without violating that respect.

Keeping up with the Law

You will find that some lawyers who practice family law also practice criminal law, personal injury, general civil law and other types of law.  I limit my practice to family law.   That makes it easy for me to focus on changes in the law in one area only. Being an active member of the Tarrant County Family Law Bar Association and attending seminars on marital property, marital dissolution and family law are some of the ways that I use to stay on top of new developments in this area.

Billing & Fees

I charge an hourly fee of $200 for my services. Clients pay costs including court filing fees, process server fees, courier fees, court reporter fees, and other costs and fees incurred on their behalf.  Clients are billed by tenth of an hour (six minute increments) with a minimum of two-tenths of an hour on any task or service including phone calls. An initial telephone consultation of fifteen minutes is free.

Retainers. A retainer is the deposit you must make in order to hire me to provide legal services for you.  The minimum retainer is $3,500.  Child custody matters may require a higher retainer. The retainer is not the entire fee, and is not a flat or fixed fee. The minimums quoted on this site are subject to change without notice.

Detailed billing statements are sent monthly to each client to let them know what services have been performed in that month and how much time each task took.  I accept Visa and MasterCard.   All fees are payable on receipt.  There are no Payment Plans available.

Location

My office is in the Mallick Tower on the west side of downtown Fort Worth. You don't have to tangle with the central downtown traffic to come see me. There is free parking in the building's lot. See the map on the Location page of this site.
