How to ask your partner for a prenuptial agreement

If you come to the conclusion that you want to sign a prenuptial agreement before marriage, there is something you need to do: Discuss this with your partner.

Since this can be a scary situation, you need to know exactly what you are doing. After all, you don’t want to hurt the person you are about to marry. Fortunately, there are some tips you can follow when it comes time to ask your partner for a prenuptial agreement.

— Start the conversation as soon as possible. You don’t want to spring this on your soon-to-be spouse right before your big day. Instead, bring it to light as soon as possible.

— Discuss the terms. While it may sound like a good idea to present your partner with a prenuptial agreement, you don’t want to do this. Instead, decide on the terms as a couple.

— Don’t beat around the bush. Make it clear as to why you want a prenuptial agreement.

— Look at it from the other side. While things may make sense for you, don’t forget to look at this from your partner’s side of the road. How would you feel if the shoe was on the other foot?

If you want to ask your partner for a prenuptial agreement, there are a few things you can do to make the process much easier on both parties.

It may be a good idea to sign a prenuptial agreement before getting married. Just make sure you and your soon-to-be spouse understand what this means.
